What is the best gear for a NooB like me have?

I am waiting on pants and jersey.

I have GLOVES NOW!! Fing Honda.. /rant rant..

I got boots- I bought the 50/50's by Thor and like them but are they safe?

I got a helmet and goggles so I am ok there.

I been looking on traps like Trx got and I am trying to find shin guards that fit me; I am also looking at getting a camelback due to a medication I take I dehydrate really fast and makes long rides tough.

I am also looking at getting a GPS to take on rides for those moments... you know the ones.. when your thinking... HMMMMMmm all these trees look... Similar.. And where the HELL IS THE SUN??? /cries for someone's mommy.

Tbagr from TSB told me about Cyclegear, but is there somewhere as good or better? and what about parts? who has good parts for quality and pricing.
Anyway, a website, some insight and safe but cheap:) I would greatly appreciate. Thank you in advance!

FYI, I am the little guy in the very center:)

oh i forgot to add that yes, working on the quad is easy if you have any mechanical skillz.

only thing i wont touch is the motor internals... i leave that to the shops and trained mechanics.

I've bought parts from pit posse before, they are nice guys to deal with and are pretty competetive as far as pricing. www.pitposse.com They are located in St Pete so if you are close you save shipping. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of pants/jersey did you get? I'm looking for something new as well, my moose pants are a little too hot for me.

I have only one thing to say about the 50/50 boots. They are comfortable, but defiantly not good foot protection.

I am sure you have big calves, as do I. I found that without my shin/knee guards, I can buckle all my straps. Whereas I can't with them. A tall boot offers ankle support and shin support. If you ever are about to flip, most people have a natural instinct to put your leg out to catch yourself. Having the full boot might save your leg from snapping if the quad is too much to hold. (it only takes 12lbs of pressure to break a bone)

Or even the...yes.. slipping your foot under your rear tire (OUCH!)

Not far for me.....I might look you up for some boots for my son.
Have you been there a while? I may have seen you in there.

Hey I appreciate all the info and responses.
I have seen Suncoast over there in Brooksville, I got family in Springhill. I will get with ya!
Checkin out the Pit Posse when I get home from work.
I had bought Bilt Racing gear from Cyclegear in Tampa, but the 48 pants wouldn't snug so I returned them and I am looking at 46's, the Jersey I returned as well it was 3x and a lil snug in the front and neck so I am looking at 4x.

Here is what I found, Thor makes a series that goes to 4x and Fox's 3x is almost as big as 4x by other manufacturers.
Bilt Racing's material seems a lil cheap to me, not well BUILT imho.
I am going to try and talk to Insaneone, I heard lots of good stuff so far.

As for the 50/50, I hear ya and fear the things your sayin and I thank you for being blunt about it. I am new to riding and finding myself very addicted to it... I want to jump and race BAD but big guys fall hard:)

My question now is on the 50/50 boots, I was planning on getting knee braces like the ones Thor makes that is a pivoted knee joint that looks like it gives great protection and support, does that not compensate for the 50/50 lack of full boot? if it doesn't I may just get a new pair of boots, but would I need the shin guards and brace still?

I am now looking at grips, softer than the cheese grating monsters that are going through my gloves, any input on good ones? I keep going to honda and cyclegear, just so I can see what's what and the differences.

I am still researching and working on getting information so anything on anything is helpful, I want to compile everything I learn and post it here on the forums for the bigger guys riding:) peace!

Hey, Thanks for thinking of us...come by and check out what we have. Just to let you know...if you go with Fox gear do not put it in the dryer! We had gear for our little one and within 6 months it was too small because it has a tendancy to shrink...just beware.... But stop by the store anytime, we can hook you up with some good deals! Thanks!

Just curious, but which series by fox goes to 3x? I haven't seen that one yet. Also, Moose Racing makes big sizes and their stuff is pretty cheap for the quality you get. The Moose sahara pants are extremely well vented too.

Actually, every line of gear has larger sizes, it just may not be easy to find. Most of the companies offer sizes up to 3x, 4x, or even 5x. The only problem is they are only available in one color. For example, Fly gear has there F-16 line this year in black, red and blue. The blue & red only go up to 2x jersey and 42 pant, but the black will go to a 5x jersey and 48 pant. But this is the only gear from Fly that goes that large. You will find some of their other lines will go to 2x or 3x, but that is it. So you can get the bigger sizes, but you may not have much color selection. If anyone need help with this, let me know. I can help you out. We can get many different brands of gear.....
