for me....

first i want to say thanks to everyone who came out and i had a friggin blast :buttrock: i cant believe i am still up after getting up at 4:00. it was great to see old friends and make new ones. this was a great experience and overall a great group of people having some hardcore fun. this xc stuff is nutz. i cant remember when i had the best and worst time. i shouldnt say worst but the roughness and mud crossings were unbelieveably brutal :bs:. but at the same time i look back and realize that i survived and had lots o fun doing so. tomorrow i will be practically immobile :bubbrubb2:

so we take off the line at the start and andy and a couple guys got the jump on me to the gate. not more than .1 mi into it through a right left right left section in heavy woods i find myself supermaning into the woods, the bike must have hit someting on the right side and sent me flying and the bike rolling upside down. knocked the wind outta me but i jumped up okay and rolled the bike over to get on start it and see im stuck on some heavy vines. get off and have to yank it hard to free it. i do, very winded at this point, and continue not far where i catch up to everyone at the first mud crossing. it was deep thick and getting worse. new tires were the bomb! i pinned it through and ended up passing andy and a couple others stuck in the muck.

from there it was just brutally rough and all i could do to hold on with wet gloves. it was 6.5 mi laps and must of it was consistant right and left and tight. we had a couple of drops in ditches up and down, logs to go over, roots roots roots, several tricky tight rutted 90s, and some good longer stretches but anywhere you got speed it was that more difficult to hold on. there were 3 thick mud crossings which sucked. i passed several people and only got passed once. mostly rode by myself. the 1st mud got so bad they called the race for me after 4 laps at 1:35 minutes. i took 1st place in C class

i cant wait to do it again!!! come on 2009/2010 season :bubbrubb2:

special thanks to andy for picking chad and myself up at 5am and dropping us off in wesley chapel coming from st pete!!

Ok now that I had time to sleep I will post my story.

I made the mistake of going down to River ranch on Friday. I get the canopy setup and make room in the truck and thought I would sleep in the truck. That was a mistake. I belive I got about 1-2 hrs of sleep all night, I just could not find a good way to sleep and we were right next to the airport so the rotating light kept flashing in the truck.and then every couple of hrs I had to start the truck to get the A/c on to cool the truck off. so on to the race now.

At the begining of the day we got to do a fun run. 1 lap around the course, they told us about the water and mud on the course right at the begining and that you had to stay to the left and its better there. Well I think I was like the 3rd person in the woods on the fun run and was going to fastand hit the water to the right. that was a wrong move, chad will tell you the same thing. Anyway I find myself highsiding the bike in the water/mud and getting saoked. I took the rest of the practice lap slow.

Now the race. In the Mens begginer class It was Me, chad(slopoke), Bill(Wild Bill), Bruce (4wheelerfamily), Rafeal(pancho).then 3 or 4 other guys racing. At the start I am second into the woods behind wild bill, I am just pacing myself because the course was Rough!!! I should have done more testing with the suzuki because it just was not right. The rear was setup to soft and I had a hard time steering it at first so I had to keep my weight towards the frontwith all the roots and whoops this was not a good thing. Also with all the power this bike had It would come out of turns and off of roots and send me to the left or right. It was hard to control. Overall I finished 4th place and Due to the unfortunate race chad had I secured 2nd place overall for the season.

Great job to everyone that raced. everyone did awsome and especially andy. The people that raced know how rough it was and he still finished the race with a Massivly bent tierod and a flat in the front tire. Now go get some hiper wheels andy and stop tacoing them.

:crackup:The rims were not bent,I was suprised.I must have knocked the tire off the bead:bs: Time for some hipers:bubbrubb2:. I think I pulled seconed on the start went through and got to the MUD I got suck in all 3 mud holes on all 3 laps.Let me tell you diggin out a quad in 2-3 foot of mud SUCKS.I think thats what took all my energy because I was just wore out. Then about 3/4 of the last lap cought a tree and it bent the tie rod.So I rode 1st gear all the way back:bs:Not sure when the tire went flat? Thanks to everyone that made the first time trip so much fun:bubbrubb2: Till next time :bubbrubb2::bubbrubb2:

I'm not good telling stories but her we go. I went like ath or 5th on the hold shot, then the mod pool, by the time I got there, there were 4 quads stoked all over the place, with no path for me so here we go, I got stoked, lukly it didn't take me too long to get out of there and I was 2nd on my class, then about 3/4 onmy second lap there is a quad up side down, my friend Kyle just had gone down with a dislocated shoulder, I stopped got his quad out of the way and kept going hopping to find some sweeper or some one with radio to get him some help, 3 guys from my class had passed me, so now just keep working my way up front, after going by the mud pool and got stoked one more time, I passed some guys there and then Ramon, a guy in my class passed me, lil after that I see him hitting a tree and there he went over the bars, I jumped out of the my quad I try to help him, he was Ok me and another rider put his quad back up, hopping everything getbetter I kept goin, but here is the mud pool again, just this time I got stoked really good, there was Richard stocked worse then me, he helped me out and there was nothing I could do to help him, so I kept goin, the last lap by far the best, no accidents, no problems on the mud pool, nice I just had no idea were the other riders on my class were I though I had to do one or two more laps but they stopped the race short, finally I found out I got first oh yeah! so that's how it went for me, good job everyone else that raced, TBRD had a great turn out, with Brian winnig his first race and everyone else finishing on good positions, on a track where just finishing the race was a big deal.
Good job everyone see you all on the dirt.

my story...start was tight like always... i let everyone go ahead so i wouldnt get tied up at the start..i like starting in the back and chasing....about 4 minutes into the race i pick off 2 guys was behind Raf, Bruce, Troy, Brian and Bill...they were in a train and bumper to bumper into the first water crossing, i decided to make big pass on Raf, Bruce and Troy right there...hit the water crossing, didnt get the front end up as much as i should have, submarined the front end and then the be bike flipped over and onto me...my right leg was akwardly caught by the heal guards and folded my leg up to my head (ouch)...knew i was hurt instantly, a course marshall got the bike off me and i was DONE....

right knee and ankle in bad shape...MRIs tommorrow. I can walk around in a gimp state without much pain, but im sure i facked up some ligaments.

oh well, thats racing...still i had a great time...thanks Andy and Brian Seckle for giving me a ride and bringing an extra bike!!!

and great job to everyone on their first races...you guys did AWESOME...and i hope you are all addicted as i am...

I had three goals for the race
1. Finish
2. Not crash
3. Not come in last

As Meatloaf says two out of three ain't bad

I finished, came in third from last with one of them being Chad with his unfortunate water crossing and I flipped my quad and rolled a couple of times flying around a turn with a numb right hand due to my stock grips.
I was up at 5 am, drove forever spend some bucks on entrance fees, have two bruises on knee and shoulder
Overall an awesome day
Next year will be even better
Kyle wants to try a race next year
I am exhausted and spent some time cleaning the bike today
It is ready for next weekend
My wife is out of town, the boys and I will be riding

Great day racing guys, half the fun is the BS and support from you all

what an awesome time.first i have to thank everyone for letting me be a part of tbrd.since it was my first time we where standing about to start and my heart was already at the finish line pounding out of my chest it was intense.well i made it off the line and said to myself dont look back.when i got to the first water hazard i got soaked but the top of second worked so on we go and i had been feeling everyone on me until then, after that i came up on another rider and got the pass then eventually afew more but hell i still dont know who they where or what class they were in.every one kept getting stuck in the mud and i ran up on someone stuck and in my exileration i begin to yell go go go go then it occurs to me i got reverse so forgive me please to whoever i was yelling at then we come to the first dip and the guy in front of me gets off somehow and clips a tree right in the dip and slides sideways right in front of me with little time to react i am on the brakes but its to late i clip his rear tire and he bounces off and i anm afraid he may be hurt and yell you alright and he says yes so i take off thinking man that was a hard hit he took from that tree with people starting to stack at that instince. somewhere on the second lap i have mud all up my helmet around my lips and i go to get a drink from my hydration pack and learn i drank it all before the strart there was nothing there so now i have a mouthful full of dirt and spit oh great all of a sudden i think it will be hard to finish like this. well whatever i keep riding and i come up to the long log and screw up i am going way to fast so instead of hitting the brakes like i should have i pop up the front and it bucks me hard!so i go flying over the hanlebars but still with the death grip on the bars i crash down head first in front of the bike it goes over me because i laid out flat, the kill tether got wrapped around the bars and tore of my clip so the bike was still running so i wrap my arms around the back tire to slow its roll and jump back and ride off now all of a sudden i begin to see stars and thought to myself i hope that goes away soon , so i ride out and reach for my front brakes and the lever is bent way down some how when i get to the check point i am trying to bend it back real fast and forgot that this guy is trying to scan my barcode and he yells hey stay still then i remember, what am i doing , duh. so off we go on the finish of the third lap i am thinking to myself its over give me a drink and a smoke right, NO the guy says one more lap, what? o.k. i can do this i say to myself this is what i came for to see if i got what it takes so i kept picking good lines and keeping my revs high and when i stopped the bike at the finish line i found out good thing i did'nt stall because i blew the battery somewhere along the way. what a blast! thank you each and everyone for being so hospitable to me and my family we had the great time this family has been needing for a little while the kids got along great without being so damn mean to each other.to my suprise i am not that sore, thank you bruce and family for the ibuprofen.oh and at the end i had no idea that i was actually in first.tbrd rocks!

Here goes my story, short and sweet. On the practice lap I hit something and my right a arm buckled and bend bad. Have a look.
http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu282/pancho07yfz/BendAarm004.jpg.

I finished the practice lap like that. Brian S let me use is 05 bike and I raced on a honda for the first time. I started the race and finish that was my goal for my first race. I came in 5th right behind Brian S. I think I did well on a bike that I had never rode on before. I had a blast and will do it again. I saw when Chad went down. I was right next to him. When the quad flip it looked like a bomb went off. Mud everywhere, then I got stuck in the mud hole. I was surprise after the first lap I cruise over them mud holes all of them and did not get stuck. Thats my story.
