so, i need to go to jax to drop off a boat and im going to use the opportunity to ride Ocala NF sunday and monday of Thanksgiving week.
i plan on camping at Lake Delancey West where you can ride straight to the OHV trails. i will arrive sunday and stay the night, maybe 2. i will be doing the tent thing, scout style.
im picking up a GPS and plan on laying down some miles. i wonder how many miles the trx will go before it needs fuel?? hopefully i dont find out the hard way.
my wife has to work and the kids school so im going solo. i havent had a vaca in a while so im looking forward to chillin by myself. dont think i have ever done that.
i have found that Big Scrub is not even on the OHV trail maps??? thats why im going to the north side. this will be my first ride in the ONF. i will surely get some pics and post up what i find out.
anyone have any info to pass along, post up, let me know.

Bro that sounds like a great idea except the solo part.
*you begin to hear the sound of your mother*
I hear that place isn't the safest in regards to other people, especially hunters and tis the season to be shooting things.
I am not trying to deter you; but maybe you should snag one of the TBRD peeps and that way you can share the fun and "maybe" stay safe:) /hangs head low.. Always going where trees are this one does... strong in the force.. but won't miss the tree.

Big Scrub is not on the OHV trail map because there are not designated trails there as of yet. Also far as I know you do not have to pay the daily rider fee 10 per day or yearly fee of 75 per rider to ride there just the camping fee.Big Scrub does have showers and bathrooms,Delancey has pit toilets it is much more woodsy type of camping scrub is a open feild. The rangers have told me that they have never had a riding/hunting incident as of yet

If you happen to awake in middle of the night to the sounds of banjo music, cock your Glock and whatever you do, don't make any squealing noises.

How do get to the north side ohv trail? I'm new to the area and only know how to get to Big scrub. Right off 19. I've heard of the ohv trails and would like to check them out. This is the trail you have to paid to ride right?

im baaaack
well it was good and bad.
first the good was the weather fo sho. camping at Lake Delancey West was good too. It was great Eric EZ and a friend of his Jeff joined me there. I arrived sunday morning at 7:30. got a nice spot, wasnt packed, there were a couple of sites open plus the center of the loop was an open camping area. only amenity was a "vault" toilet. meet some nice people.
we rode alot! i took the gps but forgot to turn it on the first trip out then monday forgot to turn the track back on after playing with it. sooo i still can figure out the total miles and will post later. the trails were very cool. there were wide open long sugar sand trails i was wide open in 5th just foatin and flying. then there were some more technical smooth sandy trails. it definitely was a place to rip. draw back is the trails are not one direction and there are rhinos and gaters cruising around so you had to be cautious. they groom the trails so there were only a portion that were whooped out. but those whoops wre vicously large and laaaaaame.
so eric and jeff head to a motel room sun night and i stayed as planned and just chilled and enjoyed the peace! buy 7:30 it was sooooo quiet. i was in a tshirt all night in front of the fire. eat some chunky soup with the camp stove and the sleeping was fine, actually slept very well. got up at 2 to pee and the stars were just amazing, it was sooo clear, it seemed like there were a blanket of stars.
monday morn, i chowed some eggs and beacon, packed up and the boys arrived. we rode the rest of what we didnt the day before. took a long loop and hit some great trails, came back and had lunch and eric and i hit one last loop. man i was beat!
soooo the bad. wasnt there and hour of riding and came back for a drink and hit the unpaved forest road for maybe half mile got to the site and these forest patrol guys pull up? this guy was the rudest least communicable just plain dick of a person, short little gustapo spanish prick askes for our licenses and proceeds to not say a word and not answer our questions and writes tickets to us all for riding on the road $175 each!!!! we were/are pissed!! it was not clearly marked and we were just told we needed to know where we were at all times, tell it to the judge. i can elaborate further but its pissing me off as i type and theres more. later in the day, i was running last, cruising along in 4th and i look back to see a green forest truck on my ass waving his arms. i pull over and hes telling me i parked my truck illegaly, im like dude im parked in the campground but hes persistant? finally im like follow me and see and he lets me go. another just pain moron of an individual, obvously not educated.
then comes monday on the last ride with eric and i. eric was in front and i guess he got the slow down hand job by like 7 forest people on the atv/motorcyle trail. so of course i get to them and the same pecker that wrote the tickets is standing in the middle of the trail telling me to stop and turn it off. stressing out just looking for a reason to write a ticket. i have to kiss ass to the 7 of them and listen to the blah blah till they let me go. and of course we went down a dead end to a trail head and had to go back by them. we were creeping, idleing in 2nd and one of them yelled "come on slow down guys", i threw my hands in the air shook my head and idled in 1st till i got down the trail. we then went back to the site, packed up and went home!
so if you wanna go there and camp with the family and ride slow on nice open trails, go. if you wanna have fun and haul ass, dont.

Thats sucks they are that way up there. I was going to join you guys up there on Sun. I woke up early around 6:00am. I'm getting ready, when the wife ask what was i doing up so early. I answer why. She replies my MOM doesn't fly a 12:00pm. I though o sh**, and said i'm cleaning around the house early before your mom gets here. She replied good and went back to bed. That would have turn ugly if i had left to go ridding. Well thats how my weekend went. We should plan on going up to the Motoplex soon. If we go up there the story is going to have a happy ending. From what i have heard the place is real nice.

I read on some other forums that they were cracking down on (speeding) and that the only people they want to come are people on utility quads and a 5-10 mph limit.I say there a bunch of tree huggin hippys but thats my opinion:D
