Are there any Jetting masterminds around? If so I will be your friend.
I have been messing with my jetting ever since Ive picked up my z 400 and never seem to hit the right combo.

Changing the airflow will definately throw off your jetting. Id say that you will see better performance by rejetting. is your exaust the stock one modified?
IT not as hard as it sounds but you need to have a base line to start with. My quad has alot of mods to the air box, filter and high flow header and slip on so it makes it a little tougher to nail the right jetting.

I will be calling you soon to inquire. Do you have access to a dyno?

I have exaust, uni filter, and no airbox lid. I bought the dynojet kit and I am currently running a 160 main jet with the mixture screw 3.5 turns out. The bike seems to run really well lots of low end torque.

Thanks for the info. the Dinojet mains are measured differently than Mikuni jets so I need to look up what I should have vs. your D.J. I am running a mikuni 165 main right now. The way mine is running is it runs like a champ up to 1/2 throttle then it just falls on its face (sputters). BTW isnt 3.5 turns on the screw almost all the way out?

i pretty much have mastered Jetted my dual carb Raptor..... the Z400 should be alot easier. if its falling on its face it sounds like you a running to rich out of your main jet. try putting tape on half of the filter to restrict air flow. if it get better your running too lean. if it gets worse its running rich.... good luck.

Good advice! I will try that ....I have tired several combinations of main jets this will help me know I need to go up more or back down on the main.
