I have a 10 YO grandaughter who has a 90cc Kawasaki 4 stroke and want to try the FTR HS next month. I feel pretty good about her. SHe has had her quad at Dade City MX several times for practice and seems to be able to handle the quad at Croom, at least on the A trail . Its not a long race for her.The Kawasaki is a trail quad and won't be competative against the 2 strokes but its a start.
I have a 25 YO daughter who is interested in taking the TRX400ex for her first race. I should have the shocks upgraded by then but except for a bumper and nerf bars its stock. She has never seen a HS before. It looks like its about 1 1/2 race which could be an endurance issue for her. From what I can tell the women will be in the next to the last row to start but with a race this long she will be passed a lot by riders who may know what they are doing and by some who may not. I don't want her to get hurt or other riders to get hurt either. She has her Motorcycle license and rides on the street so she can handle the quads controls. she understands body position and trail lines . She has never jumped a quad. So could she race and not tick everybody off or will she be black flagged ?

I say bring them both out to race. They will have a great time. As far as the 25 year old, she will be racing in the womans quad class and I know all the woman who race in that class and the woman vet class are great people and they will help her as much as they can. as far as getting passed just tell her to hold her line and the faster people will get around her. Endurance is the factor here but just come out and have fun, the endurance comes after racing a couple of times as your body gets used to it.

They both will do great, just tell them not to ride over there head. There aren't any sections that she would have to jump. If there are jumps they will be able to roll them. They have to start somewhere and ftr is a great place to learn.

Let 'em both race. The kids trail is a simple course winding through pine trees and all flat no jumps. The adult course shouldn't be a problem either. Although it does have a mx section with some table tops and a couple of small doubles that can be rolled. Actually, advice to all, check them out before ya go all out over them. They are short but a little steeper than I think they should be on the downside. They'll wear down quick though. There are a couple of elevation changes (hills) by the MX section and a few throughout the rest of the course but nothing that takes any special skills. As long as she slows down she will be just fine. I guess the biggest warning should be that after one race they will be hooked and begging to do another one! :thumb:
