We are hosting our first harescramble this weekend, we plan on the track being around 10 miles long. We have not decided as of yet how many laps we will be doing. This will be for money not trophies. The fees are: $5 registration and $10 to the pot (of course you still need to pay park admission). We will be paying out the top 5 places. For the first race we plan on having a dirt bike class (just 1) a quad class (just one unless we have too many entries then we will form more) and a side by side class (once again just 1). We will be utilizing some of the new FTR trails as well as some other trails. We hope to see you all out there this weekend.

The race is on Saturday and the dirt bikes will kick it off at 10am followed by the quads then the side by sides. Registration starts this Friday during our regualr hours then again on Saturday @ 8am until race time.

Let us know if you have any questions.....

The course has been marked completely. I have to say that I wished I was participating in the race. The course is awesome with the addition of the brand new trails that were just made this week. I have to say though that you better eat your wheaties before heading to the race!!!

Please note that all side by sides will have to have seatbelts as well as googles and a helmet.

The first race in the morning starts at 10am and there will be a mandatory drivers meeting and a 1 lap track inspection prior to the race. The spectators will be set up next to the pit lane and start/finish line. They are also allowed to set up off from the side of the course wherever they wish as long as they are safely out of the way.

The creek crossings will have standing water some as much as 1 1/2' of water. There are multiple creek crossings at least 5 of them. There will be wide open trails as well as tight trails. There will be smooth trails as well as "ROUGH" trails.

The course will be ridden tomorrow to identify the length of it. We will then post up the amount of the laps to the race.

Make sure that you have a race number posted on the front and rear of your race vehicle.

If you have any questions please ask.....

With all the parts you've added to that beast, your gonna have to break it in. I don't think running a 2 hour race on a fresh motor would be a good idea. Just sayin!

The trail is 11 miles long (+/- a tenth or two). We plan on having 7 laps for the race. Post up if you think it should be more or less. Now is your chance to voice your opinion.....

Has anyone timed a quick lap? I would figure making it right at 2 hours for a slower rider and a faster rider would finish a little sooner. Riders that have never done this type of race will be"finished" after 1 hour probably.

Are you high or on speed?
That is a too long of a race
I agree with about 1.25 hours in length is more than enough and in line with FTR races

keep them coming guys......

Please note that this course is probably 75-80% open trails and 20-25% tight trails. The open trails are the one way trails, power line trails etc. We figured with it this open that the laps would be much faster and it would allow the rider to conserve energy thus allowing them to go farther. The one major concern we had was to set the lap count and the race finishes in less than a hour or even 45 min.

No one has done a quick lap as of yet and it will probably not happen since time is a factor.

We wanted to make sure that everyone had to do at least one pit stop which is why we thought 7 laps were appropriate.

Thanks guys for the input keep them coming, PLEASE

I think that Colon is just that fast. As long as you kept your speed above 60mph you would finish in a reasonable time.:drink1:

My Craptor only gets 12 miles to the gallon:cussing: I would have to make 3 pit stops :wtf:

When can you come over?

Tomorrow is fine, I make my own schedule at work, but I'd rather do it first thing in the morning or late afternoon. I have to at least work 3 hours tomorrow

a lot of dfmr trails are fourth and fifth gear as long as you know nobody is coming the other way  a lot of miles can be covered out there quickly but my thought is 1 1/2 hours no longer than 2 even then some bikes will have to refuel probably because of the long runs wide open. imop i think when word of this gets out people will turn out. trophys are great but cash is cool. i know i want to race it baaaaaad but it will be a little longer on the build.

The 11 mile course took me 25 min to complete :turtle: So it was decided that it will be a 4 lap race on Saturday. There was a few marking issues that were addressed (:cussing: cows for eating the green markers) but will be fixed by race day :thumb: If any of you guys are free on Saturday you should certainly check it out. No trophey and no points for this race but there is nothing wrong with the winner taking the entry pot :drink1:

If we want to finish before dark we have to cut the number of laps. This is what we are going to do. Dirt bikes 4 laps, Quads 4 laps, side by sides 4 laps and utility 4 wheelers 3 laps. I hope everyone tries to get there early on Saturday morning the practice lap will be really important.

A special thanks to Adam for coming out and giving us some important feedback. When he said he was :turtle: I thought he was just joking

Cant wait to see everyone Saturday!!!

25 minutes???
Were you riding a cow or your quad?
Looks like fun but we can't make this race
Please post up finish times and how many kids were there
My boys both want to try a race. They are 10 and 14

I was riding my quad watchin out for moo cows on the trail. It was a lil tough navigating the trails so I did go a lil slower crossing the intersections. I only ran 2 laps to get an idea for it. I'm sure if I kept practing I would have a better time, but being that I'm a short bus rider it was kinda hard to memorize a 11 mile loop:devillook: There were some places that my :tard[1]: butt got lost or missed a turn or 2 have been fixed:thumb: I wish I could do it again on Saturday but my kid might get a lil mad if I miss his soccer game. Thank you DFMR for the opportunity to run the course, it was both challenging and fun:thumb: I know your gonna be doing more and I'm sure I'll catch the next one :drink1:
