As some of you know I moved to Vermont but it turned out to be a pretty much empty state for atv tracks and ridin the trails has already put a $460 dent in the pockets. Sooo my plan is to get my quad from vt 22 hours back south to Ocala so when I visit i can ride. At this point any help or ideas is appreciated. My new cell number is 802-505-1311.

You can pack it in a crate, remove the heels and all the fuel, or put it on a pallet and bubble wrap it then shrink wrap the hell out of it. Shrink wrapping it will be lighter. From there you can have a freight company pick it up ie; Northern Freight. If they pick it up at your residence, you to make sure a truck with a lift gate and pallet jack is picking it up. You can save some money by taking it straight to a truck depot and packing it there. Theyll probably give you the pallet for free, just make sure you get one that is long enough for the quad. Removing the bumper and grab bar will shorten it. Before you shrink or bubble wrap it, you have to strap it to the pallet. You can use plastic bands which work great, but you have to buy the tool and crimps to make it all work. Or you can check with the truck depot and the may have all that stuff. You give a dock worker $20 bucks and you have a friend for the day. Also your going to need a Bill of Lading which is basically a label for the package. The depot will have the for, make 6 copies. 1 for you, 1 for them, and 4 for the package. You tape one on each side of your already sealed package, then wrap a layer or 2 of shrink wrap over them so the don't get torn off. At this point the BOL is a contract with the trucking company and it is there responsibility to deliver the package. It will probably take a week or 2 for it to arrive unless you pay big bucks. On arrival, if someone can pick it up at the depot on the other end, you save some money to. Same goes for sending it. If they pick up and deliver from a residence, it can cost you double because they have to schedule a guy, with a lift gate to make the run. They aren't UPS or USPS so you basically aren't on there route. The depots are so it's cheaper. Hope this helps. Any questions ask. I have shipped and received about 100 pallets over the last few years and have had only 1 incident. I still got my delivery, but it was a week late.

By the way, to get the price on shipping, get the exact weight of the quad, add about 30 lbs for pallet and give your info to the shipping company.

Unfortunately, I've had to close about 100 of my clients stores in the last few years due to the economy. I used to ship stuff by UPS but they broke a lot of stuff. Freight companies do a much better job, and I haven't lost or had 1 item broken yet. if it can fit on a pallet, you can ship it.

Shipping it sounds like a good idea and probly the only likely option. A ticket? Nope, the rough Vermont terrain ripped my entire rear brake assembly off the bike only leaving a piece of caliper, a twisted brake disc and tore brake line. That's what's goin to be $460. What's this I hear of a car train???
