If so you might be interested in this.....
Turns out that Microsoft hasn't completely forgotten Windows Vista Ultimate users. Released with no fanfare or press, you can now grab a soundpack with two new system sound schemes for Vista, and a package of DreamScenes from Windows Update.
Could this mean that the Ultimate Extras program is back from the dead?

I had Vista for a bit for test purposes. What a resource hog. I run XP Pro on all the boxes at work and will until it runs EOL.
As for personal use, I love my Macbook with OS X.

I dual boot with Vista and XP but I use XP for work and designing and just play with Vista. Your right it is a resource hog. I will use XP for as long as I can. I'm interested to see what Windows 7 will be like.. I use window blinds and can get the same look as Vista on XP.

Thunderdually,
I run XP and will until they come out with something better, but I'm interested in how you get XP to look like Vista. Is it something built into Window blinds or is it something you have to tweak?

There are several programs made by Stardock that lets you change your GUI or just your desktop. With Window Blinds you can completely change the look and feel of your windows. DestopX allows you to design your own desktop by making objects like start menus, calendars, weather objects, meters to name a few. With IconX you can change your icons. You can make your own objects as I do or you can download themes that others have made. You have to pay for the main program but all most all the themes and blinds are free.
There is so much that you can do that the best thing to do is go to their web site and look at the programs. If you have any questions about any of the programs feel free to email me.
Go here for the programs some have a free trial on them http://stardock.com/
To see themes and blinds go here http://wincustomize.com/
you can buy most of the programs seperate or buy Objectdesktop 2008 which has the main programs already in a package which is the best buy...
