View Full Version : HS Race on the 20th
Dirty Foot Adventures
08-08-2011, 08:13 AM
On Sat, August 20th starting at 9am, Dirty Foot will be holding cross country races on our 1800 acre ranch! If you have endurance and skill to negotiate through the approx 7-8 mile natural terrain of creek crossings (no high water), light mud and wide-open fields, then make plans to compete in the dirt bike and ATV classes.
Only $20 to enter with cash prizes for the top 3 winners in each class. Race will be based on first to finish. Total Time to be announced closer to race day. We will use a dead start format and will have 2 or possibly 3 checkpoints in the course. Race participants and spectators will be allowed to take their vehicles in the trail gate to the staging/starting area in the open field which is north of the rock road. Take rock road into trail area and turn left (only rock road on left) and follow to end. Pit area will be located west of start/finish line. Please note the course crosses this rock road very near trail gate entrance, so extreme caution is needed when entering and leaving trail area. Dirty Foot will have personnel at this crossing and all vehicles must stop until cleared to cross. We cut mostly new trails this weekend that will be used in our cross country race.
Please note proper riding safety gear is needed in order to compete. For more information, including specific location information, check us out at www.dirtyfootadventures.com or call us at (863) 245-3676. Gates open Fri from 3pm to 10pm (race weekend only), Sat 8am to 8pm, and Sun 8am to 5pm.
We will run the Dirt Bikes in their own class and the race will start at 10am. Practice is at 9am.
The quads will have their practice lap around 12:30pm and then race starts at 1:30pm.
The Peewee Race will start at 5pm.
Times are subject to change.
We will hold the gates open until 10pm on Friday and registration is all day on Friday and Saturday morning.

Is it still 20$ to get through the gate and 20$ to race. Most if not all of us only come to race and then leave, we do not stay to ride or come back the next day to ride. Is their any way to give "racers only" a different band for the race only and that is all. It would probe bring more racers Just a thought

I'm there, kind of my home turf, well close enough! Went out there Sunday and the trails were sweeeeeet, no dust lots of hard pack and the front trails I tried to take Brian down were dry and tight!! Can't wait!:bubbrubb2:
Its no big deal, just wondering, I had a blast and im coming back for the next one. Guess the $$ went toward the new scoring for the race:thumb: Cant wait.

We did it again, the new Hare Scramble Course is another great one. We will be finishing up the mowing and cleaning with the skid steer throughout the week but this course will definitely receive some great ratings! We will mark it Wednesday-Thursday this week and be ready for early Saturday. The Peewee Course has already been flagged as well and it is close to a 1/4 mile long. We ended up using the North East corner of DFA (oak hammock) for their course. This weekend is going to be one to remember!

Yes it is almost a 1/4 mile and it is in the oak hammock on the north east side (rear and to the left of the road) of the property

We now know the course distance thanks to Ty Simandl, it is 7.7 miles! Lucky 7's!! He and my son did a complete lap to get the reading and they both said "the track is so smooth" Please know that I did leave some palmettos to make it interesting!
Is there any mud like last time?
Dirty Foot Adventures
08-17-2011, 07:20 AM
We cut in a brand new course for the first half of the track, SHOULD NOT be any mud.
Quick reminder that the transponders that are required for the Hare Scramble race are $5. You only have to purchase this one time and they are good for MANY YEARS!

If we get MORE rain I would prepare your machine for a moist/wet race. Definitely will not have any dust. Also so you know we eliminated crossing the main rock road completely. This means you will not be racing through the BIG Grass field this time. When you come into to park please follow the signs in, we will be across the road from the old start line under the powerlines.

Is the start going to run a long distance down the powerlines??????
Dirty Foot Adventures
08-18-2011, 09:05 PM
No, there will not be any HIGH SPEED runs this time. It will be a shorter start area then right into the trails!

Need to have course marker signs made up like this. We could have used them for this race!!!

Sweet! Are the trails on the east side wet like they were on July 4th weekend? Curious if I need to ride in my swimsuit!!!!
Dirty Foot Adventures
08-18-2011, 09:16 PM
No they are not wet like the 4th. I will say however that they are moist. If we miss out on the rain on Friday conditions will be GREAT.
Moist = 1-2ft, no biggie.lol:rock:

It didn't, only 11 quads raced. Was a complete mud and water fest. After the practice I left, plankey and mike didn't even bother doing the practice, wish I woulda taken their advice..

Congrats to those that did participate, that was a hell of a race. It may have been a mud fest but the only guys that got stuck were the youth riders. Good job fellas. That was true off-road racing!

Yeah its true off road racing, but its not worth it when you have to put bearings, chain and sprockets, and brake pads on your bike. That 50.00 purse isnt so good!!! How did the scoring system work?

The course would have been sweet had it been dry! But it was a sloppy mess! I ran the practice lap and lost my brakes, otherwise I would have raced!

Finally home.......time to unload now.
We received another 1 1/2" of rain on Friday after rain on Wednesday and Thursday. The course was PERFECT on Friday mid morning/afternoon. I was so excited because the course itself was going to be a tight/technical slower course. We cut out the big field and got away from crossing the main road. Friday around 4pm (I think) it started with the rain. We got back on the course and remarked the areas that needed it. At that point the course was still okay. When I got up in the morning (6am) and started surveying the property is when I realized that the course had taken on water from other areas of the park. We were draining but unfortunately that meant it was flowing through the course.
We delayed the bike race for a hour and that helped some but not enough. We allowed them to ride the course for practice and told them that if they did not want to race we would refund ALL (gate and race) fees and they could leave. We only had 2 drop out and say they did not want to race the course.
We did the same for the quads. We had many more in the quad race drop out and leave and many that decided not to even try the practice lap. Of course we got a shower before the quad race lol. I know that there are several that decided to leave but did not get their gate fees back. Please contact me so that we can arrange the reimbursement.
Now on to the scoring system. IT WORKED AWESOME!!!!!!! I actually had lunch during the bike race.... That is one of the best purchases for the park so far!!! As soon as I hit the button to end the race we had actual results of it. Actually, you could watch it on the phones so everyone knew the results before I printed them. I will be posting the results on the website within a day or so.
For the count of the racers we were way down obviously. I think we only had 40 bikes, 16 quads and 9 peewees.
Thanks to all that came out and gave it a try. Hopefully our race in September will be free of the afternoon showers!! Of course then dust will be the next issue :cussing:
