Croom training class for kids?

We have been riding up at Croom for the last 6 months and now you have to send your kids to a training class after July 1st. Has anyone been to this class? Is it lame or worth it? Are they really going to enforce this at Croom?

looks like you must be at least 6 for the course. mine turns 6 in august. guess i will have to conform?


i guess she cant ride till then? cant find anything that says under 6 what you can do?

yea i have to take kayla also . i need to find a smaller quad for her as she is only 12 and her quad is rated for 16 but for the smaller kids i have a 50cc quad for 6 and up if you all need to take the test .

My son took the class on the 19th The only problem that we had was it was cancelled 3 times because not enough people signed up they need two to hold a class.So far the only place 12 and under can take the class is Salt Springs at the OHV center.
I can't say the class was lame but it was basic stuff that kids should know stopping starting crossing logs checking the kill switches the good thing was the 4 hour class only took an hour the instructor was great with the kids reconized the knew how to ride and cut it short,he is also verry dedicated to the sport.
The cost for the class is 75.00 The will not tell you but if you ask they do pay for travel.After you take the class call them at ATV Safety they will send a form to fill out to get payed[I sent back the form just Friday let you know if they pay].They are supposed to give me back 67.00 for gas.

I think this really stinks! My little guy has 2.5 years before he is old enough to take the course.
We were planning on getting him a 50 later this year.
Good thing I have enough property that he can still ride until then.:cussing:

If you get an early enough class you can go ride croom that's what we are doing....

i think they supply the quads at least yamaha did for my friend they paid him also for taking it .

hey merl what location are you doing it at. i emailed the atvsaftey people and asked about one at croom and they said not at croom and the only one that i saw was is sarasota.

It's at the Community Bible Church Of Brooksville.. Looks like it's about 10 miles or so from croom.

I signed up two weeks ago. Yeah I had to split up the classes for my family because they were full so my wife and daughter go two weeks after my son and I.

Each student will need to bring to class

Your own ATV (unless other arrangements have been made with the instructor)

A helmet that is DOT approved (unless other arrangements have been made with the instructor)

Goggles or a face shield (glasses/sunglasses are not sufficient)

boots that are over the ankle (we recommend over the calf)

gloves

long sleeved shirt and pants

the owners manual for your ATV

i just spent 45 min on the phone with the atv saftey inst
they told me they have no classes for 6 year olds and that they can put me on a waiting list and when they get a class together they would let me know.

they are full of sh-t!!

I have a phone number of one of their instructers so i called and talked to him he said he has classes in sarasota this month but he needs to have four kids to do the class.

including my daugter he has two for this sunday so if any one needs this class for their lil one and can do it in sarasota on sunday june 8 from 1-5 then PM me and i will give you his info!!!!!
