how do i know if im out of fork oil? im in the process of putting my 250 back together. when i took the fork guards off i noticed there was a thin film of lube on the entire fork. there is no puddle in my garage but then again this bike sat for a good 2 years in peices in someone elses shed, i dont know if it already leaked or not. i dont want to remove the forks and start dissembling them if i dont have to. any special way of knowing if it already has fork oil in it?

There is no way to tell. you have to empty it and replace it with a measured amount. If they have been sitting for that long I would put new seals in them anyway. When I used to ride mine alot I would have to rebuild them once a year
