Local Engine Builders?? Sugestions?
My little Project 400ex is fianlly about ready to put together. The frame is being powder coated now and should be ready this week sometime. All my engine parts have arrived also. I can build a stocker 400 all day with no probs. But being that this is my first "High Performance" Atv engine im building, Im hesitant to do the build my self knowing how much money All these parts have cost me. Doing TONS of reasearch on 400ex performance engines, I have decided to go up another step or two to get the performance im looking for.
SO FAR....Heres what I have for the engine. 440 weisco Piston/Sleeve- 12.5:1 Compression Stage 3 camshaft CRF450 Timing chain XR CDI Rev box XR Head gasket Edelbrock Quicksilver Carb. Oversize Aluminum oil tank. FMF Power core 4 & Procircuit t-4 Pipe ( bought both to see which one I like best) Engine will be ran on 110 octane cam2 Leaded Fuel Now... From what I understand, I should just go ahead and beef up the valve train while I have the engine apart to keep it from FLYING apart and destroying my engine. Hardend rocker arms, Performance Valve springs,Oversize "big"valve Kit, Port&Polish the head, Possible Head Stud kit? Flywheel Timing Key? I would much rather have someone who does Performance Mods for a living do all this work in house for me. Rather than sending my Engine parts all over the country to get the work done. Im looking for someone who can do all the head/port work as well as put all the parts I currently have into the engine. But somewhat reasonable on price. Im not looking for a nationly known builder who builds all the pros engines. I want someone small, who has a good rep and can build me a good reliable engine for a good price. This bike will NOT be ridden much due to me not having much time to ride. But when I DO ride it, I want it to be a Nasty,Reliable machine! Anyone know of any good local builders here in FL? Or have any tips.Tricks on anything else I mine as well do?

Not to down any local businesses but the feedback on alot of his work is not as positive as i would want it to be when spending hundreds of dollars on engine rebuilds..Yes he has several engines in the race circuits , also constantly having problems.. I have no personal experience so im relaying hear say.. No Pun intended

He cannot control part failure,I would say his workmanship is top notch.

Modded rebuilt my engine a few months back due to a crack engine case. No problems and runing like a champ. For a one man operation. He only had the bike for almost a month. ATP does good work too and had my brothers bike for 7 months.

Unfortunately nasty and reliable don't go hand and hand. The more you mod an engine, the less reliable it becomes.

The hardened rocker arms and oversized head studs are a definate!
I believe you can buy hardened studs or send the factory ones off and get hardened You cant use the timing key with big bore kits, only factory bore.
